Little Rock punches above its size. This is where nine Black teenagers walked into Central High School in 1957 under armed guard and changed the country, and the city hasn't buried that story — it built a national historic site around it. Add a walkable riverfront, a genuinely good downtown food scene, and the Clinton Presidential Library, and you've got a Southern capital worth more than a fuel stop.

The classic mistake
Treating it as an I-40 pit stop and only seeing the highway strip malls. The soul of the city is downtown and in the historic neighborhoods — you have to get off the interstate.
